Turning Trash into Treasure: Landfill Waste in India Holds Energy Potential
The study looked at how much energy can be produced from fresh garbage in a landfill in Delhi, India. They made models to predict the energy content of the garbage based on what it's made of. The models were pretty accurate in estimating the energy in the garbage. They found that food waste, inerts, textile, and paper were the main things in the garbage. They also found that the amount of volatile matter and oxygen in the garbage didn't really affect how much energy it had. These models could be used at other landfills in India with similar conditions to figure out how much energy can be produced from the garbage there.
