Empowering farmers through improved extension services boosts market-oriented agriculture in Ethiopia
The study looked at how improving agricultural extension services in Ethiopia can help farmers become more market-oriented. They found that when extension services are tailored to farmers' needs, it can lead to a shift towards more commercial farming. While female-headed households benefited from these services, it didn't close the gender gap in agricultural outcomes due to initial differences in wealth and resources. More research is needed to design extension services that specifically address challenges faced by women in farming.
