Sustainable Urban Design Transforms Stormwater Management, Protects Aquatic Ecosystems
Urban areas face challenges with stormwater management, worsened by urban growth and climate change. Traditional methods involve underground pipes to quickly remove stormwater. Sustainable Stormwater Management (SSM) offers eco-friendly solutions to improve water quality and protect aquatic habitats. Ecologically-based urban design (EBUD) integrates nature into urban planning, enhancing SSM effectiveness. EBUD guides stakeholders in creating plans that mimic natural water systems and protect water bodies. Future research will focus on identifying key issues for EBUD guidelines in SSM.
