Legume Residue Boosts Maize Nutrient Uptake for Higher Yields!
The study looked at how different legumes grown in one season affected the amount of nutrients taken up by maize grown in the following season. They found that incorporating legume crop residues into the soil led to higher nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium uptake by maize compared to not incorporating residues. The more nitrogen applied, the more nutrients maize absorbed, with the highest uptake seen at 180 kg N ha-1.
