New study reveals breakthrough in understanding seasonal patterns in agricultural data.
Monthly agricultural data in Argentina shows unique seasonal patterns. New tests were developed to analyze these patterns, including zero values and structural breaks. The tests were validated through simulations. The results show that the tests can accurately detect seasonal trends and breaks in the data. The study applied these tests to agricultural exports and domestic supply data from 1994 to 2008, revealing both stochastic and deterministic seasonality in the data.
