Gharaf River Water Quality Raises Concerns Over Pollution Levels.
The study looked at the characteristics of Gharaf River in 2019, focusing on how the Tigris River's floodplain water affected it. Four sites along the river were studied. The water was found to be clear, with high oxygen levels and low salinity. However, it had high alkalinity levels, exceeding recommended limits. The river water was also hard but within acceptable levels. Sulphate and bicarbonate levels were within normal ranges. Total dissolved solids and suspended solids were present in varying amounts. Nitrates were below safe levels, while phosphates were within acceptable limits. The study showed that the floodplain period had different effects on the river's properties.
