Digital customs simplification slashes costs and wait times for businesses
The study looked at how simplifying customs procedures through digitalization can improve efficiency in foreign trade. By introducing a new computerized transit system, customs processes can be streamlined, reducing costs and time for businesses. The research focused on Ukraine's customs policy and found that modernizing customs procedures can lead to better experiences for exporting companies. Problems like overstatement of goods' value and outdated equipment at customs control zones were identified. To enhance efficiency, minimizing personal contacts between customs officers and clients, moving transactions online, and using electronic services are recommended. The study also highlighted the need for more automation in customs clearance processes to align with practices in developed countries. Overall, using one transit declaration for goods delivery can cut down on customs costs and time.
