Drip-Irrigated Wheat Yields Soar with Optimized Nitrogen and Water Management
Effective irrigation and nitrogen management are crucial for maximizing winter wheat yield and water use efficiency in the North China Plain. A two-year field experiment found that irrigating when soil water consumption reached 35 mm led to significantly higher grain yield and water use efficiency compared to other irrigation levels. Additionally, applying nitrogen at a ratio of 25% basal and 75% topdressing resulted in the highest grain yield and water use efficiency. This study provides valuable insights for optimizing irrigation and nitrogen fertilization practices for drip-irrigated winter wheat production in the region.
