Top management support key in boosting performance in small businesses
The article explores why small and medium-sized businesses in China adopt high-performance work systems. They studied 207 companies from different industries and ownership types. The research shows that factors within the organization, like support from top management and the perceived impact of these systems, are more important than external factors in predicting adoption. The size of the organization also plays a role. The study suggests that using management innovation theories can help understand why companies choose to implement these systems.
