Turtles at Risk: Microplastics Contaminate 88% of Marine Specimens
Plastics in the ocean break down into tiny pieces called microplastics, which harm marine animals. A review of 132 articles found that turtles are the most affected, with 88% contaminated by microplastics. These tiny plastics are mostly fibers, made of polyethylene, less than 2 mm in size, and blue in color.
