New refrigerants R32, R452B, and R447B were tested as alternatives to R410A in cooling systems. R32 is a strong performer with high efficiency. R452B and R447B are mixtures with some complexity. In tests, R452B and R447B had slightly lower capacity than R410A, but similar power efficiency. R32 performed the best overall. The study suggests that compressors designed for R410A may need adjustments for optimal performance with low-GWP alternatives.
