The study compared how men and women run the 10,000 m race. They looked at data from 129 athletes in world championships. Men slowed down after the first kilometer, while women sped up until kilometer 2. Men kept a steady pace until kilometer 9, while women had more variation in their speed. Both men and women ran faster in the last kilometer. Women showed more changes in speed than men.
