New study reveals best sugarcane varieties for maximum yields with irrigation.
A study was conducted to compare three types of sugarcane grown with different amounts of irrigation in Egypt. The researchers found that increasing the number of irrigations led to taller stalks and more canes per square meter, resulting in higher cane and sugar yields. The variety G.T. 54-9 performed the best overall, while Phil.8013 had the highest yields in the first season. F. 160 had the lowest yields but the highest sugar content. The study suggests that growing G.T. 54-9 or Phil.8013 with 22 irrigations can give the best results in terms of cane and sugar production.
