The article discusses the evaluation and value assessment of Taihu Lake's water ecosystem in China. The researchers used the Water Environment Qualities Index to evaluate the lake's water quality and combined economic and ecological methods to assess its ecosystem services. Over the past 8 years, Taihu Lake's water quality has improved from moderate to light pollution. The main service of the lake's water ecosystem is provisioning, with water supply being the core function. The total value of the lake's ecosystem services has shown a trend of first decreasing and then increasing, with an improvement in water quality leading to an increase in the value of regulation services.
