Optimizing Building Design Cuts Energy Use by 35% in Basra
The study looked at ways to make a 6-floor residential building in Basra city more energy-efficient for cooling and heating. They tested different factors like building orientation, wall color, window placement, and building shape using a computer program. Results showed that facing the building north saved 11% of energy, using white walls saved 12%, and proper window placement saved 3%. When all these changes were combined, energy consumption was reduced by 35% compared to the original design.
