Optimizing rice planting density and nitrogen levels boosts yields in Uttar Pradesh.
Different ways of planting rice and using nitrogen fertilizer were tested in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The study found that using a plant spacing of 20cm x 10cm and applying 180 kg of nitrogen per hectare resulted in the highest grain and straw yields. Increasing nitrogen levels from 0 to 180 kg/ha led to better growth characteristics like plant height, tiller number, leaf area, and dry matter accumulation. In both years, the combination of 20 cm × 10 cm plant spacing and 180 kg N/ha gave the best results in terms of yield.
