Deficit irrigation boosts onion yields, enhancing food security in water-scarce regions.
In a study on onion farming, researchers tested different ways of watering crops to see how it affects yields. The goal was to figure out the best way to save water while getting the most onions. They tried three different watering methods and used two levels of water stress, comparing them to a regular watering schedule. The results showed that certain watering methods and stress levels led to bigger onions and higher yields. Specifically, the traditional furrow method with full watering gave the best results. This study suggests that carefully managing how much water onions get can boost crop productivity and save water in areas with limited water resources.
