Mechanical transplanting boosts rice yield and quality in innovative production system.
The study looked at different ways to plant rice in a system that also grows crayfish. They found that using a method called mechanically transplanted pot seedling (MTPS) with a specific spacing gave higher rice yields and better quality compared to another method called mechanically transplanted carpet seedling (MTCS). The best results were seen with MTPS at a plant spacing of 13.8 cm. Lower planting density helped improve rice quality, while grain content of amylose and protein was not affected much by the planting method or density. Overall, MTPS with 13.8 cm plant spacing is recommended for better yield and quality in this rice-crayfish system.
