Exergy analysis reveals massive energy losses in Jeneponto power plant, highlighting urgent need for optimization.
The researchers analyzed a 135 MW steam power plant to understand energy efficiency better. They used exergy analysis to look at how energy is used and lost in different parts of the plant. By calculating the exergy values based on factors like mass flow rate and temperatures, they found that most energy was being lost in the boilers. In 2020, the boilers had the biggest exergy and destruction values, meaning energy was not used efficiently there. However, the high-pressure heaters showed good exergy efficiency. The study identifies areas like the boilers where energy could be conserved, leading to better efficiency in power plants.
