Assembly-based modeling uses a new method to create 3D models by putting together shape components from a database. The challenge is to pick the right components for the user. The scientists in this study used a probabilistic reasoning approach to solve this problem. They made a model that learns relationships between shapes and uses this to suggest components that match the 3D model being made. The results show that this probabilistic model helps to pick more relevant components for the user.
