Revolutionizing Maize Farming: New Fertilizer Rates Boost Yields in Ethiopia.
Maize yields in Yeki District, Ethiopia are low due to poor soil fertility and lack of proper fertilizer use. A three-year experiment found that applying 92 kg of nitrogen and 69 kg of phosphorus per hectare significantly increased maize growth and yield compared to lower fertilizer rates or no fertilizer. The highest grain yield of 10052.9 kg per hectare was achieved with this specific fertilizer application. This study confirms that using the recommended nitrogen and phosphorus rates can greatly improve maize production in the area.
