Algae Dominance in Reservoirs Threatens Water Quality and Ecosystem Balance
The researchers studied the types and amounts of tiny plant-like organisms in two water bodies in Bukhara. They found that certain types of algae were more common in Lake Tudakul and the Kuyumazar reservoir. The most abundant phytoplankton in both places were Cyanophyta, while Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta had the highest biomass. Some algae species were only found in Lake Tudakul. Overall, the water in Lake Tudakul had more diverse and abundant algae compared to the Kuyumazar reservoir.
