Paddy-upland rotation boosts crop productivity in tidal land reclamation.
The study looked at how different crop rotation systems in newly reclaimed tidal land affect soil properties and crop productivity. They tested five systems: Rice-Rice, Rice-Maize, Maize-Maize, Rice-Soybean, and Soybean-Soybean. The results showed that the Rice-Maize system had the lowest soil bulk density and higher moisture content compared to Rice-Rice. Maize productivity was better in the Rice-Maize system than in Maize-Maize. Soybean growth and yield improved when rotated from rice fields, but overall, the crop growth and yield were not very good. This study provides important information on how crop rotation systems can impact soil and crop growth in newly reclaimed tidal land.
