Overgrazing in Inner Mongolia Threatens Livestock and Grassland Sustainability.
Grasslands in Inner Mongolia, China are being overgrazed, leading to degradation. Scientists used advanced satellite technology to estimate how much grass the land can support. They found that the area can sustain 237.46 thousand cattle-units in summer, but it is currently being overgrazed by 19.32%. By analyzing different types of grassland and grazing seasons, they determined that some areas are supporting too many animals, with 51 locations showing overload. This research helps guide better management of the grasslands to protect the environment and support sustainable animal husbandry.
