Drought-resistant peanut varieties identified, promising higher yields in water-stressed areas!
Peanuts are a cost-effective and drought-tolerant crop. A study tested 16 peanut varieties for drought resistance during flowering and pegging. They looked at root traits to see which varieties were better at handling drought. A596, NC6, Shanhua11, and Shanhua7 showed strong drought resistance. Shanhua12, Nongda 818, and others had moderate resistance. Jihua 4, Guihua 836, and others had weaker resistance.
