Earthworms turn waste into nutrient-rich compost, revolutionizing solid waste management.
Vermitechnology uses earthworms to turn waste into nutrient-rich compost called vermicompost. Three types of earthworms were tested on different agricultural wastes like industrial scraps, crop leftovers, waste paper, and cattle dung. A mix of waste paper, crop residues, and cow dung in equal parts produced the best compost. After 60 days, all three earthworm types produced high-quality compost. This shows that vermitechnology can efficiently manage solid waste and create valuable compost for agriculture.
