Wind speeds used in building design need to be accurate to prevent damage. The study corrected wind speeds from weather stations across Korea for terrain and surface roughness. The corrected maximum wind speeds were compared to uncorrected ones, showing a difference of up to 4.2m/s over a long period. This highlights the importance of considering local conditions when estimating wind speeds for construction.
