Extreme rainfall events over Tibetan Plateau linked to abnormal circulation patterns.
The study looked at extreme rainfall events over the Tibetan Plateau in summers from 1981 to 2016. They found that the most extreme rainfall occurred in the southern and eastern areas of the plateau, with a clear pattern of events happening every two weeks. They identified three types of extreme rainfall events, each associated with different atmospheric conditions. The findings suggest that these extreme rainfall events are influenced by specific weather patterns and moisture transport from surrounding regions.
