Soil nitrogen hotspots discovered in Inner Mongolia watershed, impacting agricultural productivity.
The researchers studied soil nitrogen distribution in Huanghuadianzi watershed. They found that nitrogen content formed island shapes, with high values in the northwest and low values in the south. Nitrogen was most concentrated in surface soil and decreased with depth. Altitude and slope affected nitrogen content, with shady slopes having more nitrogen. Cropland had the highest nitrogen content among different land use types.
