Improved snowmelt modeling enhances water resource management in arid regions.
This study used hydrological models to predict the flow of the Aksu River Basin, which relies on snowmelt in a dry mountain region with limited data. Two models were compared, with the snowmelt model based on MODIS satellite data proving more accurate than the rainfall-runoff model. This shows that using remote sensing data in hydrological snowmelt models is an effective way to simulate and predict flow in ungauged basins with snowmelt as a major factor.
