Chinese hi-tech industry sees productivity growth driven by technology transfer.
The study looked at 15 hi-tech industries in China from 2000 to 2010 to see how effective research and development (R&D) is in improving productivity. They found that overall, the industries are becoming less productive due to technical inefficiencies. The Office Equipments industry had the highest productivity growth, mainly from technical advancements. The electronic components industry was the most efficient, leading to productivity improvements. Additionally, foreign investment and technology imports positively impacted productivity growth in the sector.
