Portugal's Regional Sectors Show Promising Productivity Growth Patterns in Study
The article examines productivity growth in different regions of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. It looks at both absolute convergence (all regions catching up) and conditional convergence (regions catching up based on certain factors). The study finds evidence of both types of convergence in different sectors of the economy. Factors like capital/output ratio, flow of goods/output, and location play a role in productivity growth. The research also considers the impact of spatial effects and human capital on productivity growth in different regions and parishes of Portugal.
