This article discusses two types of forests in Northeast China: deciduous forests in the north and deciduous-evergreen forests in the east. The distribution, development, and components of these forests are studied. Deciduous forests are found at different elevations, with cold temperate deciduous coniferous forests at lower elevations and humid cold temperate deciduous coniferous forests at higher elevations. Cold temperate deciduous coniferous open forests are rare at mountain peaks.
