New Hybrid Rice Strain Shows Strong Resistance to Harsh Sunlight Stress.
The study looked at how a type of high-yield rice copes with strong sunlight in the field. They found that the rice can handle bright light by using a process called thermal dissipation, without harming its ability to photosynthesize. This rice, called Hybrid Rice II You 129, is better at dealing with bright light than another type of rice called Shanyou 63. Hybrid Rice II You 129 can absorb more light and photosynthesize better, has a more active protective mechanism, and can recover faster after being exposed to bright light.
