Immigrants in Europe and North America face income disparities due to policy and labor market factors.
Immigrants in Europe and North America earn less than native-born people, even when they have similar education and skills. This income gap is bigger for immigrants from poorer countries and varies between different destinations. Countries with more asylum seekers have larger income gaps between immigrants and natives. Also, when more immigrants work in the labor market, their income gap with natives increases, except for highly educated immigrants from poorer countries.
