Closing the Financial Gap: Policy Changes to Boost Microfinance in Kenya
Microfinance institutions in Kenya are struggling to provide financial services efficiently due to limited capital sources. This has created a gap in access to services for the poor. The main issue is lack of funding, transparency, and performance standards. To address this, three policy options were analyzed: maintaining the current situation, government regulation, or self-regulation by MFIs. The best policy option will improve efficiency, feasibility, and accessibility of microfinance services in Kenya.
