Lead contamination in groundwater poses health risk in Woreillu, Ethiopia.
The researchers evaluated the water quality in Woreillu Town, Ethiopia, by looking at ten physical and chemical parameters and five heavy metals in groundwater samples. They found that most parameters were within safe limits for drinking water, but lead levels were too high in all locations. The Water Quality Index (WQI) ranged from 49 to 136, with one location having excellent water quality, one good, and three poor. Lead, pH, and turbidity were the most important factors affecting water quality. Regular monitoring and treatment of boreholes are needed to ensure safe drinking water.
