Russian consumers may be overpaying for PCs due to inflation bias.
The study looked at how the prices of personal computers in Russia may be affecting inflation rates. By using a method called hedonic indices, the researchers found that the prices of personal computers actually fell by 25% over 20 months. They also discovered that the official price index for PCs in Russia could be inflated by 25-44%. This means that the Russian inflation rate might be higher than reported, by about 0.18-0.32% per year, due to changes in the quality and availability of PCs.
