Plant Sensitivity to Stress Hormone Shapes Positive Interactions Among Neighbors
Abscisic acid sensitivity affects how Arabidopsis thaliana plants interact with each other under salty conditions. The study looked at different plant variations and found that sensitivity to this acid influences their interactions. Moving plants closer together confirmed the role of sensitivity in plant responses. The differences in traits like stem length, root length, leaf area, and flower density were smaller in sensitive plants compared to wild types. This suggests that positive interactions between Arabidopsis thaliana individuals are influenced by their sensitivity to abscisic acid, affecting their physiological and physical characteristics.
