New Chinese coal mining technique prevents deadly gas disasters underground
Chinese coal mines are going deeper due to increased demand for coal, leading to more gas-related disasters. To prevent these, a regional gas extraction technology was developed. By mining a protective layer first, gas extraction in coal seams can be increased significantly. Additionally, using a network of extraction boreholes and water can further enhance gas extraction. This technology has successfully eliminated coal and gas outburst disasters and allows for safe mining under low gas conditions.
