Educational and Gender Inequality Drive Income Disparities in South Asia.
The article explores how educational and gender inequality affect income inequality in South Asia from 1980 to 2010. By analyzing data using different models, the study shows that higher educational inequality leads to higher income inequality. Gender inequality in primary and tertiary education increases income inequality, while secondary level gender inequality decreases it. Interestingly, gender inequality at primary and tertiary levels reduces per capita income, while at the secondary level it boosts it. The study also reveals a U-shaped relationship between average years of schooling and education inequality.
