Coastal Farmland Faces Increased Erosion Risk Due to Climate Change
The study looked at how soil erosion happens on farmland slopes in coastal areas during rainfall. They found that erosion increases as rainfall intensity and slope steepness go up. There's a critical slope angle of about 25° where erosion is highest. Runoff speed also goes up with heavier rain and steeper slopes. The faster the runoff, the more sediment gets carried away. The strength of the runoff turbulence also affects erosion. Overall, higher rainfall and steeper slopes lead to more erosion on farmland slopes in coastal regions.
