Traffic volume and street shape determine air quality in city canyons
Air pollution in city street canyons is a big problem due to trapped pollution. A study in Antwerp looked at how street shape and traffic affect pollution levels. They found that streets with certain shapes and high traffic have higher pollution. Streets with a certain shape and over 300 cars per hour have worse air quality. Different types of street canyons were identified, which can help improve air quality in cities.
