The Huanghe River Delta coast has three main types of tidal channels: tidal inlets, tidal creeks, and tidal channels from abandoned river channels. Tidal inlets are found in areas with weak erosion and barrier islands. Tidal channels from abandoned river channels are mainly in new delta lobes since 1934. Tidal creeks are in the intertidal zone and spread across the coast with varying sizes and features.
