Changing landscape patterns in Tarim River impacting ecological balance and development policies
The researchers analyzed the landscape pattern in the Tarim River area using GIS and quantitative analysis. They found that natural vegetation covers 35.1% of the area, while other land types cover 54.88%. The distribution of grasslands and farmland varied along the river, with forest patches scattered. The spatial pattern of land use showed high heterogeneity, influenced by the river corridor width. Different landscape types showed varying sensitivity to the river's effects, with forestland mainly found in narrower corridors. This analysis helps understand the changing landscape patterns in the river corridor, aiding in developing effective development policies and restoring the degraded ecology.
