New soybean variety Guichun 12 boosts yields and quality for farmers.
A new soybean variety called Guichun 12 was bred to be high-yielding and suitable for intercropping with other crops. By crossing two different soybean varieties, researchers created Guichun 12, which showed good resistance to diseases and adapted well to different growing conditions. In trials, Guichun 12 had an average yield of 2585.25 kg/ha, ranking second among tested varieties. It also performed well in intercropping situations, with a yield 20.91% higher than the control group. This new soybean variety was officially certified in 2011 and is recommended for planting in central or southern Guangxi, especially when intercropped with sugarcane or cassava.
