The System of Rice Intensification (SRI) was tested in Kenya to see if it could improve rice yield and water productivity compared to traditional methods. SRI resulted in higher grain yield and saved 24% of irrigation water. Land productivity increased by 71% and water productivity by 90% with SRI. Overall, SRI was more effective in increasing yield and productivity than the conventional flooded system.
