Guangdong's forests flourish, but cities' growth threatens carbon sinks
The study looked at how plants in Guangdong, China grow over time. They found that plant growth varied between 1360 and 1626 grams per square meter each year, with the highest growth in the late 1980s. Plant growth was highest in the southwest coastal region and lowest in the inner land region. Some cities saw stable plant growth, while others had increases or decreases due to changes in land use. Mixed forests had the highest plant growth, followed by broadleaf and conifer forests.
