Steep slopes lead to soil and nutrient loss, environmental rehab key
The study looked at how different slopes and planting methods affect erosion and nutrient loss in purple soils. They found that soil and water loss increased with more rainfall, but environmental rehabilitation can help reduce this loss. Plots with steeper slopes had more runoff and sediment, while plots with waste residue had the highest levels of soil and water loss. A 15° slope plough was the most environmentally friendly option. Overall, the findings suggest that controlling erosion and nutrient loss on cultivated purple soil slopes is important for soil and water conservation.
