Aquatic plants show promise in cleaning up polluted water bodies.
Aquatic plants like Sparganium stoloniferum, Iris pseudacorus, Water Iris, and Acorus tatarinowii were tested for their ability to remove nitrogen and phosphorus from polluted water. The study found that Sparganium stoloniferum was the most effective at removing these pollutants, followed by Iris pseudacorus, while Acorus tatarinowii had the lowest removal rate. This research provides valuable data for improving the quality of polluted water bodies and can help in the ecological restoration of wetlands and lakes.
